After posting my thread in Bee Group, I put two blocks up for a vote, to see which one the girls would like...
Block A OR Block B
...a couple of days or so later, Block B won out. That meant I needed to draft up my block, for much easier piecing later. Well, there's nothing like the last minute. I'm not sure about everyone else, but in my world - in Moma language?, the last minute means - a spare moment! I finally managed to get it done. YAY! Now, someone out there may have already figured out an easier way of doing this, BUT, I like to live on the edge. It makes me feel fabulous (and smart). SO I'm going to show you how I made it. Ready? Let's get to work!
One Seam Flying Geese Block Tutorial
*all seams used are 1/4", making an 12.5"x12.5" unfinished block*
You'll need:
16 3"x3" background fabric blocks
2 1 5/8"x12 1/2" background fabric strips
1 1 1/2"x10 1/8" background fabric strip
2 1 1/8"x10 1/8" background fabric strips
8 3"x5 1/2" printed fabric(s) strips
..I'll wait.. Great! Layout your blocks in any order you wish. Now we can piece our block together :).
1. Start by sewing together 4 Flying Geese, top to bottom. Repeat with the other 4. Trim to 5 1/2"x10 1/8" inch strips. *NOTE TO SELF- Make sure your not cutting into your "geese"!*
2. Next, take the 1 1/2"x10 1/8" strip, sew it wrong sides together, to the center of your flying geese strips.

| (sorry, I forgot to take a photo of that step. Hopefully this helps.) |
3. Grab both 1 1/8"x10 1/8" strips. Place one strip on the right side -wrong sides together - Sew. Press. Next place the second strip on the left side-wrong sides together - Sew. Press. Trim if needed.
4. Take one 1 5/8"x 12 1/2" strip, place on the Top of your Block, wrong sides together. Sew. Place the second 1 5/8"x12 1/2" strip on the Bottom of your block, wrong sides together. Sew. Press.
5. Last, square up your block to 12 1/2"x 12 1/2" if needed.
TADA, Your Done!
I'd love to see your blocks, so start posting those babies ;D
As usual, if you have any questions (or corrections), let me know. Happy Sewing!
